Student Employment

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department offers a variety of student employment opportunities throughout the year. Depending on departmental needs, positions may include teaching assistants (TAs), research assistants, lab assistants, and other roles that support our academic and research mission. These opportunities allow students to gain valuable professional experience, strengthen their technical and communication skills, and contribute to the success of their peers and the department.

Undergraduate Teaching Assistants

All core EECE courses employ teaching assistants (officially called a "Faculty Assistant 2"), providing students with the chance to deepen their knowledge of the subject matter while supporting their fellow students. To be eligible, students must have successfully completed the course (or an equivalent) with strong performance and demonstrated professionalism. Students interested in serving as Teaching Assistants (TAs) are encouraged to review the information below and consider which courses align with their strengths and interests. All EECE TA positions are now part of a centralized quarterly hiring process, and students submit one application to be considered for all available TA roles in a given quarter.

TA job postings are typically released once each quarter, near the end of the term, to hire TAs for the following quarter. When the application is open, a link to the current posting will appear below. When no posting is available, students can expect the next hiring cycle to occur near the end of the current quarter; the start of the hiring cycle will also be announced on the EECE mailing lists.

Students with questions about expectations or the responsibilities of a TA in specific courses are welcome to reach out to faculty who regularly teach those courses.
